"What Are You Avoiding Through Busyness?"

"How often are YOU on your mind? Of the 24 hours in your day, how much is devoted to you and your needs? Have you ever asked yourself, “Why am I always doing something?” We don’t have to fill every second of the day with doing. Are you afraid of being with yourself? Are you concerned about what you might think about? Could it be that you are not ready to deal with a situation?

The stillness and silence we avoid hold knowledge, wisdom, the missing links, and a knowingness that you receive only by embracing that state. Yet we have become a society that treats busyness as something to be proud of. We can go almost our entire lives doing good deeds, handling other people’s problems, not knowing how to say no, and overextending ourselves until we are so exhausted that the only quiet and stillness we get is the kind that leads us into sleep. We could spend our whole lives keeping busy and never know who we are. The reason this can happen is that we are uncomfortable with what might come up if we stopped avoiding ourselves through busyness.

I know this cycle well, because I lived it. When I rose in the rising, what came to mind was everything I had to do that day, and the day ended with what I didn’t finish and the promise that I had tomorrow to get to it. That cycle could have gone on forever, until burnout, fatigue, or resentment stepped in. And how did those things sneak in? In the moments when I was quiet and still and my inner voice whispered, “We can’t keep this up.” My mental, physical, and spiritual selves could no longer support me in that capacity. That was my invitation to take care of me first and stop putting everyone and everything before me, and it is yours as well."

Have you ever noticed how your calendar fills up the exact second you have a difficult decision to make? Or how you clean the entire house, answer fifty emails, and tackle every external crisis the moment an uncomfortable emotion starts to surface? We use constant activity as armor. We treat busyness like productivity, but most of the time it is a sophisticated escape hatch. We live in a culture that rewards burnout and praises exhaustion, because as long as you are busy, you never have to deal with the truth of your own heart.

As your strategist, I am here to guide you through a compassionate look at what we have been hiding from. Constant activity can protect us from feelings, truths, decisions, and unmet needs. Stillness is not another task to complete on your checklist. It is the practice of presence where we finally stop fleeing our own lives. This Great Day, we put down the running shoes and face what is real. Let’s take a breath and be still to hear what you need to sustain your mind, body, and soul.

Chakra Activation: Root (Muladhara) Grounding & Stillness

To stop running from ourselves, we must anchor into stillness. The Root Chakra, located at the base of your spine, connects you to physical reality and grounds your energy so you don’t have to flee.

  1. The Physical Anchor: Sit squarely on your seat, uncross your arms, and plant both feet firmly flat on the floor. Feel the solid support beneath you.
  2. The Visualization: Imagine roots extending down from your base into the earth, holding you completely still, no matter how much your mind urges you to get up and “do” something.
  3. The Breath: Inhale slowly for 4 counts, drawing stability upward. Exhale fully for 6 counts, whispering internally: “I am allowed to stop moving.”
  4. The Affirmation: Whisper or think: “My worth does not depend on my momentum.”
  5. The Seal: Press your feet gently into the ground, locking in your stillness for this Great Day.

The Strategist’s View:

As a strategist, I look at chronic busyness as Emotional Evacuation. Strategic shifts for this Beautiful Rising:

  1. The Four Protections of Busyness: Constant activity acts as a shield protecting us from:
    • Feelings we are terrified will swallow us whole (grief, anger, loneliness).
    • Truths about our relationships, careers, or boundaries that we don’t want to admit.
    • Decisions we know we need to make but are afraid to execute.
    • Unmet needs we have neglected for years because we are too busy serving everyone else.
  2. Decoding Physical Tension and Discomfort: Physical tension, exhaustion, restlessness, and discomfort are not inconveniences. They are communication deserving your attention. Your body aches and burns out precisely because it is forced to carry the weight of everything you are running from.
  3. Stillness as Presence, Not Performance: Stillness is not another task to complete on your checklist. You don’t practice stillness to earn a grade or fix your schedule. It is simply the practice of presence where you finally stop fleeing your own existence.

The “Busyness Audit” Protocol:

Let’s uncover what your schedule has been protecting you from. Grab your phone or a notebook.

  1. Expose the Escape: Write down one area of your life where you have been frantic, overcommitted, or hyper-busy lately.
  2. The Truth Question: Ask yourself honestly: “What feeling, truth, decision, or unmet need am I trying to outrun by keeping this schedule so full?”
  3. The Pause: Write down the raw, unedited answer without judging yourself for what comes up.
  4. The Commitment: Write: “I will stop using busyness as a hiding place.”

The Integration Protocol:

True transformation requires a pause before action. Before you attempt to fix your schedule or change your life, integrate this shift through three distinct phases:

  1. Tap into Awareness: Bring your focus completely into your physical body right now. Notice where you are holding tension, racing energy, or fatigue from running on autopilot. Acknowledge that exhaustion without judgment.
  2. Sense It and Sit With It: Do not rush to fill the silence, answer a text, or organize your to-do list. Sit right in the middle of the quiet. Let your nervous system experience what it feels like to stop moving and realize you are entirely safe in the stillness.
  3. Allowing and Receiving: Stop forcing productivity or orchestrating your next move. Open your hands, drop your shoulders, and simply allow your authentic presence to fill the room. Receive the deep truth of what you have been avoiding before you ever try to give birth to a new action, a new boundary, or a new decision.

Food for Thought:

If you cleared your calendar of every single task, errand, and obligation that exists purely to keep you distracted from yourself, what truth would be waiting for you in the quiet?

Wisdom Insight:

Most self-care is taught from the outside in, but true healing only happens when you begin listening to the wisdom that has always lived within you. Busyness is not a badge of honor; it is a barricade against your own healing. This Great Day, stop running from your life and start resting inside of it.

A Sacred Welcome: "The Quiet Behind the Calendar"

Wholeness, Beautiful Soul✨!

How full is your calendar right now? And how much of that fullness did you choose with a clear yes?

For many women, busyness starts as responsibility and slowly becomes a hiding place. There is always one more email, one more errand, one more person who needs something. Each task is reasonable. Together they leave no room to feel what is underneath, to ask what you want, or to notice what you need.

This week we look at that gently. Busyness is not a flaw. It has been protecting you from something, and you are allowed to find out what.

You do not have to stop everything.

You only have to get curious about what the noise has been holding back.

Food For Thought:

Nourishment for Your Soul:

"The Inner Voice That Never Stopped Speaking"

Underneath the noise, there is a voice that has never stopped speaking. It does not shout over the schedule. It speaks in small moments: the breath you take at a red light, the thought in the shower, the heaviness before sleep, the sigh when you finally sit down. It says things like I am tired, I miss something, I already know the answer, or I need to stop.

"What the Inner Voice Asks For"

That voice is not asking to be solved. It is asking to be heard. Busyness can drown it out for years, but it does not leave, and it does not hold a grudge. It waits, patient and steady, for the moment you leave a little room. This week, let one or two of the quiet moments you usually fill stay empty, and listen for what rises.

Notice what you feel right now — not what you think you should feel after reading about self-care. What is actually present? Let it be there without immediately trying to fix it, frame it, or use it as evidence of anything about yourself.

A Reflection to Carry with You

Sit quietly with this question and let it settle in your body before your mind answers: If your calendar were suddenly empty for one afternoon, what is the first feeling, truth, or need you think would rise to meet you?

You do not have to answer it right away, and you do not have to change whatever comes. Carry it with you through the week, at a red light, in the shower, or just before sleep. What rises does not need to be solved. It only needs to be heard.

"Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished."

Closing: Heart-to-Heart

Dearest one, you have carried so much by staying in motion, and that deserves respect. This week you practiced something quieter: pausing long enough to let yourself be known. The feelings, truths, decisions, and needs behind the busyness are not threats. They are parts of you that have been waiting for your company.

Go gently. Leave one gap open. Listen for the voice that never left. It has been speaking all along, and it is glad you are here.

You are exactly where you need to be, and you are allowed to rest in the quiet you have been protecting yourself from.

With love and deep respect for your pace,

Your Self-Care Strategist 💕

P.S. Sweet soul, if the quiet felt uncomfortable this week, that does not mean you did it wrong. It means you are close to something that matters. You do not have to sit in the stillness for long, because two minutes counts. Come back tomorrow for two more. Let each pause be small enough that you can keep it. Your inner voice is patient, and you can be patient with yourself too.

"Smile, breathe and go slowly."
