Stop Postponing Your Life
"The most important moment in your life is always the present one. Not because the past doesn’t matter or the future isn’t worth planning for—but because now is the only place where living actually happens."

Stop Postponing Your Life
"Quite often I would postpone living my life. At first, I was not conscious of it, but when I became aware that I was doing so, it was challenging to stop. During this period, I lived in fear of doing this or that. During the pandemic, my family experienced a matter that required us to go to court. This situation consumed me completely. Anything else going on in my life was put on hold—I was only one-quarter present and three-quarters consumed by anticipation of the court date. In hindsight, I see the turmoil I put myself through, living through it mentally and then reliving it again when I actually faced the courtroom.
But outside of that experience, I always postponed doing something for myself in order to help others—which I came to realize was escapism. To break this pattern, I created a system to catch myself whenever I'm postponing. The first step is recognizing whether my thoughts are rooted in the past, present, or future. When I'm stuck in the past, I compare it against my current truth, which anchors me to the present moment where I have the power to make real change. When worry about the future takes over and I feel overwhelmed or anxious, I pause and take long, deep breaths to ground myself back into my body—to my centeredness, my zero space. Once I'm anchored there, I gain clarity about what's actually happening in this moment, and I can map out the steps needed to move toward my vision.
How much of your soul is currently stuck in the "When-Then" cycle? "When I get the promotion, then I'll rest. When I move, then I'll decorate." We spend our lives waiting for perfect conditions to arrive while the life we have is happening in the messy, imperfect now. We are breaking the lease on the waiting room and moving into our actual lives."
Chakra Activation: Solar Plexus (Manipura) Action Postponement is a lack of vitality and "doing." The Solar Plexus Chakra, located at your stomach, is where your fire and personal power live. When we wait, we dim this fire.
The Physical Anchor: Place your palms firmly on your belly, right above your navel.
The Visualization: Imagine a bright, golden sun igniting behind your hands. This is your "Do-Energy." It is warm, fast, and ready.
The Breath: Take three sharp, powerful inhales through your nose, feeling your belly push against your hands. Exhale with a forceful "Hah!" sound, releasing the "wait."
The Affirmation: Whisper or think: "I am ready now. My life is happening in this moment."
The Seal: Rub your palms together to keep that golden heat alive for this day.
The Strategist's View: As a strategist, I look at postponement as capital misallocation.
The Perfectionism Myth: You think you are waiting to be "ready." In reality, you are just afraid to be "seen." Perfectionism is just fear in a fancy suit.
The "Minimum Viable Life": You don't need the whole plan; you just need the next step. If you want to paint, buy one brush and a small canvas—don't wait for the studio. Bring the joy to where you are right now.
The Cost of Waiting: The price of postponing your life is the interest you pay in regrets. Every "someday" is a tax on your present joy.
The "One-Day" Removal: Let's clear the deck of these delays.
The List of Delays: Write down the top three things you are postponing.
The Strategic "Why Not Now?": For each item, ask yourself: "What is the smallest version of this I can do in the next 24 hours?" (e.g., if you're waiting to travel, book the local day trip today).
The Ritual of Commitment: Perform one "postponed" act today. Put on the fancy outfit to go to the store, use the "good" notebook, or make the call you've been putting off.
The Commitment: Write: "I am not waiting. I am arriving."
Food for Thought: If you lived exactly as you are living right now for the next five years, would you be happy with the outcome? If the answer is no, why are you waiting for tomorrow to change the narrative?
Wisdom Insight: The "perfect time" is a ghost that haunts the future. The only time that exists is the time you are currently squandering by waiting. This day, stop rehearsing for your life and start starring in it. Go out and start living the life you've been putting on layaway.

Let me ask you something, and I need you to sit with it honestly: How long have you been waiting to start living the life you actually want?
Not the life you are managing. Not the life you are surviving or scheduling or squeezing joy into the margins of. The life you dream about when things get quiet—the one where you feel free, aligned, present, and fully, vibrantly yourself. How long have you been telling that life to wait?
Food For Thought:
Nourishment for Your Soul:
Stop Postponing Your Life
Not what you have been telling yourself you are waiting for—the money, the time, the permission, the readiness. What are you actually waiting for? Because most of the time, if we are honest—deeply, quietly, vulnerably honest—we are not waiting for circumstances to change. We are waiting for the fear to go away. We are waiting to feel ready enough, worthy enough, certain enough that we will not fail, will not be judged, will not lose something important in the reaching.
You do not have to leap dramatically into a completely different life today. But you do have to stop lying to yourself that someday is a real plan. You do have to choose one thing—one conversation, one step, one yes, one decision you have been deferring—and take it. Not because everything is ready. Because you are worth showing up for right now, in this season, with everything that is uncertain and imperfect and beautifully unfinished about your life in this moment.
Your life is not in the waiting room. It is here. It has always been here. Step into it.
The Soul Does Not Wait
Postponement is not just the lost of time. It is the accumulating distance between you and your own soul. Every time you defer what your soul is asking for, you move a little further from yourself. You become a little more tired, a little more hollow, a little more disconnected from the energy and aliveness that your real life would provide. And that disconnection—not the fear, not the circumstances, not the timing—is what truly exhausts you.
This week, choose one small but significant act of present-moment nourishment. It does not have to be big. In fact, the smaller and more specific, the more powerful. Call the person. Write the first paragraph. Make the appointment. Say the thing. Buy the ticket. Take the class. Set the boundary. Begin the practice. Do the one thing that your soul has been asking for that you have been telling it to wait for.
"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did."
Mark Twain
"Whatever you want to do, do it now. There are only so many tomorrows." —

Iyanla Vanzant
"Stop waiting for someone to give you permission to live your life. You already have it."
Closing: Heart-to-Heart
Dearest one, here is what I want you to know as you carry this volume with you into your week: the life you have been waiting to start is not a future destination. It is a present choice. It is the choice you make every single morning when you decide whether to meet the day as a participant or a spectator. Whether to act on what your soul is asking for or to add it to the someday list. Whether to show up for yourself now or to trust that there will be more time later.
You are exactly where you need to be, and now is the perfect time to begin.
With an unshakeable belief in the life that is waiting for you to claim it,
Your Self-Care Strategist 💕
P.S. Sweet soul, if you are reading this and feeling the particular ache of someone who knows she has been waiting a long time—if there is something in you that recognized itself in these pages and felt both the longing and the grief of the time already passed—I want to say something directly to that tender place in you: it is not too late. It is never too late. The years you spent preparing, surviving, waiting, and gathering yourself were not wasted—they were the becoming. You needed every single one of them to be the woman who is ready to begin right now. And you are ready. Not perfectly ready. Not fearlessly ready. But ready enough. That is all it ever takes. One step, taken now, with everything you have. That is how a postponed life becomes a fully lived one—not in a single dramatic leap, but in a single honest, courageous, I-am-worth-this step. Take yours today. I am here, and I believe in you completely.
“Forever is composed of nows.”
